Surrounded by native forest and farmland, the Dome Cafe is a peaceful haven just a few metres from the #1.The New Zealand Walk Te Araroa passes direclty alongside the Dome Cafe. For the energetic, a one hour walk will take you to the lookout, and a 2 hour walk to the Dome Summit. For the extremely adventurous, the walkway continues to Matakana, Pakiri, and all the way to Cape Reinga heading North, or to Puhoi, East Coast Bays and eventually Bluff heading South.For those wishing to take it easy, the subtropical garden is filled with interesting subtropical plants, wateralls and fountains to enjoy.There is a camping area dedicated to te Araroa trail walkers, with toilets, hot solar showers and a kitchenette, TA Walkers wishing to use the camping site should contact the owners via the TA website.
