Religious Institutions - , ,
Our Province is among the fastest growing communities of men's religious orders. Our formation houses at over capacity. This growth in vocations is not so much a divine congratulations for a job done, but rather a down payment for what God has in store for the Church and the world. With increasing numbers, the Friars are increasing their presence at major universities, including Brown, Yale, Dartmouth, University of Virginia, and New York University. We are also re-energizing our itinerate preaching, traveling to campuses and parishes across America. The Friars also serve in numerous parishes, monasteries, and seminaries. All of our work is for the salvation of souls and the glory of God. St. Dominic's Vision 800 years ago, St. Dominic sent his friars across Europe, to the universities and major cities. He sent them to preach and set the world ablaze with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And through the centuries, this vision has been passed down to us. A key part of St. Dominic's vision was mendicancy. He sent out the friars with little to no money. They were to depend on the generosity of others. St. Dominic wanted his Friars to dedicate themselves to spiritual matters, not worldly. This vision too has been passed down to us.
