DONT WALK transcends that domain of an ordinary fashion show, acting as both a tradition and conceptual touchstone against which we measure our collective response to the ideas and challenges of our time. What has remained constant throughout the evolution of DONT WALK is its commitment to social justice in all forms. We see ourselves as a community bound together by a common mission; an assemblage of fashion and graphic designers, photographers and videographers, musicians and artists, who come together for one extraordinary cause to celebrate the power of art to affect social change. Although its inspiration stems from New York City, DONT WALK has grown into an organization that encompasses an international group of people. Our team is remarkably diverse due to people coming from all corners of the world. This presents the opportunity and capacity to contribute unique ideas or perspectives and to collaborate with one another to realize our artistic vision. The diversity of our team fosters an inexhaustible creative energy; it is precisely this impetus that makes our work so compelling, that allows us to remain perpetually innovative and constantly in pursuit of new concepts encapsulating different facets of our reality. At DONT WALK, we celebrate the complexity of ambiguity in all forms of artistry, and as such, we strive to underscore the impact, or shock value, that can be achieved by juxtaposing one visual experience against another. Our refusal to follow convention is proudly displayed in our name, DONT WALK, a statement that challenges our understanding of the role that models play in our fashion show installation. We want the DONT WALK image to be riveting, audacious and, ultimately, profound in the way it undermines expectations. At its essence, DONT WALK seeks to give voice to messages that challenge, stimulate, and inspire.
