The Dorset AONB Partnership is responsible for conserving and enhacing the natural beauty of this nationally-important protected landscape. At over 1100km2 the Dorset AONB stretches from Lyme Regis in the West to Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour, and from Chesil Beach to Hod and Hambledon Hills north of Blandford. It includes the majority of the Dorset portion of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.The area is renowned for:- the quality and diversity of its landscapes and landforms - its outstanding wildlife reflecting a huge variety of habitats- the ability to read 8,000 years of human history from marks in the landscape as well as 110 million years of earth history in the coastal cliffs- centuries of cultural associations with artists and writers including Hardy, Wordsworth, Turner, Constable and Reverend Barnes as well as a thriving cultural sector todayFollow us on Twitter: @DorsetAONB
