Dr. Dhawan Academy of Geologist has been established by Dr Gopal Dhawan, Former CMD, MECL & Executive Director ( Geo Tech ) , NHPC to provide a platform for learning for young geologists by the senior level experts . On its launch, the Academy in its maiden program has organised a short course on "Engineering Geology for Infrastructure Projects."The content of the short course was designed to cover the vast ambit of engineering geological and geotechnical aspects needing attention during various phases of project surveys /investigations, data collection ,designing and methodology of execution, global state of the art practices, etc. The Academy has chosen some of the finest faculty in the country who made their best efforts to introduce the participants with the nuances of ground conditions and realities for their better appreciation and evaluation for facilitating the construction of the infrastructure projects.The inaugural ceremony marked launching of the Dhawan Academy as well. The short course received overwhelming response. A batch of 41 well informed, knowledge seeking officers from 13 organisations, such as NHPC, AFCONS , THDC , CVPP, SJVN, RITES, NTPC, MOIL, SMEC, UJVN, DMR , EIL & ICCS attended the 1st Short Course.The academy in their spirit of goodwill gesture has conferred the Honorary Membership for 1 year to all the participants and faculty. A social media platform, i.e. a WhatsApp group named DDAG BATCH 001 has been created by the academy for continued interaction on professional matters and issues with the participants.The Academy of Geologists in its pursuit of continuing quest for knowledge and experience sharing will carry on organising such programs in future as well to disseminate knowledge among professionals.
