DRA is a veteran-owned, small business founded in 1986 by Roy Anderson and Ray Trimmer with the purpose of developing technologies to support the warfighter. DRA has provided R&D engineering support and product development capabilities to the Department of Defense (DoD) and commercial sectors for over 35 years. Within the first few years of startup, DRA was awarded its first Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract from the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to support electronic warfare related research. Soon after, the second SBIR was awarded to DRA for the development of an optical flow algorithm to detect motion in dynamic scene imagery. Over the years, DRA has received multiple SBIRs from the U.S. AFRL and has consistently delivered robust solutions to the U.S. Air Force. DRA also uses their research and development expertise to support the commercial sector in providing solutions for complex problems. DRA designed and manufactured an electronic Brake System Simulator for UTC Aircraft Wheels and Brakes (formerly Goodrich) that interfaces with the Brake Control Unit on the aircraft. In addition to this, DRA has been involved in developing technologies and products such as Remote Auxiliary Power System (RAPS) and the remote video surveillance system which allow us to harvest power from electrical power distribution lines. DRA continues to expand into the commercial sector to provide unique engineering solutions. Using DRA's engineering disciplines: systems engineering, digital design, algorithm development, optical design, digital design, software development, mechanical design, systems engineering and modeling and simulation, DRA develops customized, robust solutions to exceed the expectations of our customers.
