The Dreampad was initially designed as a relaxation tool for children with high levels of anxiety, including those with trauma and autism. As parents and therapists used it, feedback came pouring in. The product worked: it helped calm kids of all ages, going to bed was no longer a chore, kids were sleeping better and behaving better. In many cases, a single child's improved sleep had shifted the dynamic of the entire household.Along with this good news there was a repeating comment that stood out. It went something like this: "My son is sleeping so much better since he started using the Dreampad, thank you! Recently, I've started ‘borrowing' it from him while he's sleeping and it's helping my own sleep, too. When are you going to create a Dreampad pillow for adults?"Yes, parents were shamelessly stealing their child's Dreampad to deal with their own sleep problems. And it was working! With that, we began the design process of turning a pediatric, therapeutic pad into something every adult in the world would want to sleep with.Although the transition from pediatric therapy pad to the new Dreampad took a while, there are some benefits in having moved slowly. Most importantly, we can be confident that it is safe and that it works for most people. (Therapists report the Dreampad has helped about 80% of their clients.)The gradual development of the product also allowed us the time for research. Third party researchers have measured the effects of the Dreampad on various groups, including ADHD, Autism, PTSD, seniors and adults with stress-related sleep challenges. Some of these were formal studies intended for publication, some were less formal pilot studies. In all cases, the results were powerful indications of the Dreampad's unique impact on relaxation and sleep.
