FemSTEM is an online,multiplayer game whose goal is to make young women into SUPERSTARS in the STEM fields.The game creates a world of science "through the ages," and players must complete educational challenges to proceed to each new era or level. Like Fortnite, this game is interactive and allows players to make guilds to maximize strengths as they complete challenges. It works in concert with tradable playing cards that feature women who were successful in the STEM fields and give each woman a superpower that corresponds to the discipline in which she was successful. In the same way that Webkinz used access codes to link plush toys to online animal characters, femSTEM will use an access code on the back of its playing cards to link each illustration to an online gaming avatar. When players acquire points, they become eligible to win exciting prizes like Newton's Cradles and Rubiks Cubes. Our game will also feature a highly interactive way for groups to maintain contact and hone their skills in the real world: an augmented reality mobile app component, similar to Pokemon Go, will notify young girls of educational events such as robotics conventions and coding seminars in their areas, which they can attend to win more gaming points. In this way, they will interact and learn from other players, while simultaneously gaining invaluable real-world STEM experience.
