Leisure/Hospitality - Skagway, AK, US
In the spring of 1999 Ron Holway and Tom Hall had a dream. That dream was to bring Ron's gold dredge from the Yukon to Skagway, Alaska to preserve a bit of gold mining history for future generations. The dredge was sitting in the Klondike gold fields north of Dawson City. In May 2000, the Klondike Gold Dredge (KGD) opened for tours. In August 2001, KGD was offered for the first time as an add-on tour on a cruise line. In subsequent years other cruise lines picked up KGD dredge and gold panning tours. As demand increased, tours were expanded and refined, and additional heated panning sheds and shopping spaces were created. Over time, the Klondike Gold Fields continued to change and today has been renamed Alaska 360 mirroring our mission statement: to offer guests of all ages a unique mix of educational, interactive and entertaining tourism products truly bringing alive some of Alaska's highlights – all at one location: Dredge Town @Alaska 360.Through excellence, we endeavor to create exceptional and unforgettable experiences, every single time, all at an outstanding excursion value. From what started as one man's dream to preserve the history of placer mining in the Klondike, we have grown to having the vision of bringing many aspects of Alaska's history and the daily life of Alaskan's today to our guests.
