The events of this past year have made clear the negligence of those who hold power within the system – their disregard for human life and willingness to gain at the expense of others. Many social issues are reaching their tipping points, police brutality and misconduct chief among them. Misinformation is at its peak; ignorance and discrimination are on the rise. But now, more than ever, people are fighting back. From George Stinney Jr. in 1944 to George Floyd in 2020, the countless many who came before and those who have suffered since, systemic racism has claimed innumerable victims at the hands of those who were meant to protect us.We could not stand by the sidelines. We had to try and do something. So, how do we address the discrimination and racism so deeply entrenched in law enforcement? We can start with accountability. If we can create an organized, consistent record of law enforcement activity, we can pinpoint exactly who is stepping over the line and help bring the transgressors to justice. This inspired us to create Drivefile, our non-profit, free application which acts as an accountability system. By using Drivefile, you can generate anonymous traffic stop data that can be cross-referenced with law enforcement records, enabling the scrutiny of police performance on a granular level. Our goal is to bring about a new era of police accountability by harnessing the power of data. We think that's possible with Drivefile. We hope you do too.
