Druk White Lotus School Details
Druk White Lotus School aims to:• Provide education for young people in Ladakh combining the best modern education with respect for their unique Tibetan Buddhist way of life. Once complete, the school in Shey will provide an education for 740 students at any one time from nursery through to end of secondary stage. • Offer opportunities to disadvantaged children from remote valleys and nomad areas, who would otherwise receive poor formal schooling. This is achieved through the provision of residential student accommodation on campus and a sponsorship programme providing places for children from families who cannot afford the modest fees. • Avoid the environmental damage and cultural extinction experienced in some other parts of the world through sustainable design and through teaching of the traditional language and culture.
