Civic & Social Organization - Lengerich, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
On the west coast of Sri Lanka in the small fishing village Marawila - known for great contrasts between rich and poor - there is a patch of ground in which a child's smile is worth more than any amount of money. The German organization Dry Lands Project e.V. already exists since 2005 and owns and operates the children's home "Angels Home for Children", where only girls are cared for. Located amidst coconut plantations and with a lovely garden, it is described by many visitors as a paradise for children where they not only get love and security, but also many educational opportunities to shape their own future. In the spirit of the girl, the project is characterized by great transparency and closeness to the donor, which is ensured by the two project managers Frank Lieneke and Julia Fischer who live in Sri Lanka continuously.
