The Dual-Diploma Program is an undergraduate program in which approximately 300 Turkish students step outside of their comfort zones to earn two diplomas – one from Binghamton University and one from a Turkish university – while developing excellent language skills and delving into a diverse culture.Students spend half of their education at Binghamton University and the other half at a Turkish university which provides a highly unique experience and prepares them to work in a multi-cultural environment and to function effectively in an international arena. Each program is designed to fit the needs of the specific academic field. Typically, students spend Year 1 and Year 3 at their home universities in Turkey and Year 2 and Year 4 at Binghamton University. Students requiring English preparation upon admission spend one year studying in the Intensive English Programs at a Turkish university before beginning the regular coursework.Students who complete all course requirements AND complete one full academic year of study (two consecutive semesters) in the United States may be eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT). Eligible students can apply to receive up to 12 months of OPT employment authorization. Some students may even be eligible for a 24-month extension. For more information on OPT eligibility, please visit the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS).The program received the 2007 Heiskell Award for International Exchange Partnerships by the Institute of International Education, one of the world's leading international education organizations that administers such programs as Fulbright and the Humphrey Fellowships.
