DUKA creates permanent employment that is accessible to local residents, both in our production facility and in their own homes. This is critical as it allows rural families to improve their economic circumstances without relocating to cities and sacrificing their familial responsibilities. By developing our ethical production facility we are contributing towards greater prosperity in the region and towards achieving a systemic change in fashion manufacturing and consumption.FASHION:DUKA's original line of one of a kind limited editions has created an allure, demand and validity to our design process. By connecting consumers with authentic textiles worn by East African women we are establishing a strong relationship between producers and buyers. This has set the stage for our line of reproductions, which will showcase our unique anthropological approach to fashion.
