Dunbar Music School was launched in 2016 and was formed in response to the numbers of children, young people and adults in East Lothian and the Borders unable to access instrumental tuition and music-making opportunities. Set up as a Community Interest Company, Dunbar Music School strives to increase accessibility to music, generating musical, social and personal outcomes for students of all ages. We deliver weekly instrumental lessons for children, young people and adults to over 200 students. We also have funded programmes in place for students who face a barrier to accessing instrumental tuition, working with schools in the community to ensure places are given to those children whose need is greatest. We gained SQA accreditation in 2019 and partenered with Borders College in the delivery of music short courses.
