Durham City VisionThe City of Durham is a jewel in North East England's crown, attracting many visitors to marvel at the setting and majesty of the World Heritage Site of Durham Cathedral and Castle, and the City's rich history and architecture. The City is also home to one of the country's leading universities, attracting some of the brightest students from the UK and other countries.Within all its plans and aspirations, Durham 2020 Vision aims to keep the integrity of the City's social, spiritual and economic life while attracting investment to move the city into the future. Durham City Vision (DCV) is a partnership tasked with delivery of the physical regeneration of Durham City Centre, with a core focus placed upon the establishment of Durham as an economic, as well as, a cultural hub. Our aim is to deliver on-the-ground projects that reflect the long-term vision and strategy set for the city centre by Durham County Council, in partnership with One North East. One of DCV's main strengths is its ability to attract investment into the city, most recently securing £24m of investment over 24 months. The Vision partnership seeks both to celebrate the best of the City's heritage and to facilitate regeneration, by removing eyesores and encouraging a high quality of new development to complement the cities rich heritage.
