Sports - Durham, England, United Kingdom
Durham University Sailing club offers a wide range of sailing activities. Since being founded in 1966, we have grown a lot and now our members take part in team racing, fleet racing, match racing and yachting events around the country. Our team racing training runs from September until April, with training every weekend, eventually building up to the BUCS team racing championships. We have four dinghy team racing teams competing with successful results. Furthermore, we jointly run the Team racing event, The Angel of the North, every November with Newcastle University. We also have successful Yachting team competing annually at the BUCS yachting championship with strong performances.Any Durham University students can join the sailing club. Whilst we most of our focus is on competitive racing, there are other opportunities to get involved. In the summer term we offer "Summer Sailing" where anyone at the university is able to come along to learn to sail and enjoy the (hopefully!) warm weather.
