Nonprofit Organization Management - Nador, Oriental, Morocco
The Diocesan Delegation for Migration (DDM) is an entity of the Diocese of the Catholic Church of Tangier in Morocco, created in July 2011 in order to provide a coordinated response to the problems related to the migration phenomenon in: Tangier, Tetouan, Al Hoceima, Nador, Laayoune and Mbour. The DDM works with the aim of contributing to the protection and improvement of the health and living conditions of vulnerable migrants along the Mediterranean coast of Morocco. The intervention is framed within the National Strategy for Immigration and Asylum (SNIA), as well as within the framework of the conventions signed by Morocco in order to protect the lives of migrants, facilitate their social integration and access to different rights, through daily work with local actors and public authorities. As the migration route cannot be understood without taking into account the problems of the country of origin, in 2019 DDM started a project for awareness raising and risk reduction related to migration in Guinea. In 2021, a similar project was implemented in Senegal, given the evolution of migration routes to the Canary Islands, in order to limit the negative impact on the communities of origin.
