Founded in 2012, the Give Life association (Dăruiește Viață) promotes the rights of Romanian cancer patients, in an attempt to identify solutions that will increase their chances of getting treatment and, this way, their chances of LIVING. Our main objectives are modernizing and equipping Romanian clinics and hospitals, so that a higher number of patients can benefit from European-standard treatments, as well as modifying the laws designated to ensure that the patients have a right to live. A short summary of what we have managed to do in the last four years: -we changed an unfair law, that required ill patients who needed treatment abroad to wait for months at a time for an answer from the authorities, during which many of them passed away; -we created the first molecular biology and cytogenetics laboratory of Romania, which is essential for the correct and timely diagnosis of cancer for both children and adults; -we tripled the transplant capacity of Romania, from 8 sterile rooms in 2008 to 26 functional rooms today; -we enlarged the capacity of the Polizu Maternity neonatology section, the primary care centre for premature babies in Romania, by purchasing the equipment and incubators they needed.
