The EAS-CAP Industry Group a broad coalition of equipment, software and service providers to the Emergency Alert System (EAS). ECIG's mission is to promote the development, use and understanding of advanced CAP-based Emergency Alert System capabilities. On September 25, 2008, ECIG released its EAS-CAP Profile Recommendation, which was adopted substantially by FEMA in the development of its own CAP profile for its Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS). The ECIG EAS-CAP Profile is intended to facilitate the incorporation of the Common Alerting Protocol into the national Emergency Alert System (EAS) in a manner consistent with FCC regulations.
