The Eastern Massachusetts Trauma Response is an organization of volunteers and volunteer licensed mental health professionals dedicated to providing psychological response to communities impacted by high stress incidents. Within our larger organization is the Boston Area Trauma Recovery network (affiliated with Trauma Recovery/EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs 501c3 network). Our mission tasks include responding to emergencies (within Eastern Massachusetts or elsewhere by invitation), facilitating the training of mental health clinicians in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy and early EMDR interventions (EEI – suited to disaster response and recovery), and educating the public about psychological trauma and the benefit of treatment for individuals and communities in times of high stress incidents, as well as collaborating with other organizations in the world of emergency response.We are committed to anti-racism; we are dedicated to doing the tough systemic and internal work within our organization; it is a particular emphasis of our specific group to facilitate the training of more clinicians of color, clinicians who are multi-lingual, and clinicians who represent other underrepresented groups or regions so that those areas may have greater options and representation to address their needs during high stress incidents. We serve communities in the eastern Massachusetts region from the cities and towns on the north/south line starting in Webster, running through Worcester, Leominster, Fitchburg, and ending in Ashby to the Atlantic coast, Capes Ann and Cod and the Islands. We serve anyone regardless of ability to pay. And we serve anyone regardless of their proximity to the event. If a person has developed stress related symptoms in response to a specific event or ongoing stressful circumstance in their community that has affected the community (rather than an event of a personal nature) we are willing to do what we can to help.
