Transportation/trucking/railroad - White Rock, British Columbia, Canada
Since 2010, eco-Options Energy has operated an alternative fuels supply Cooperative, switching commercial fleet operating members from fossil fuel to lower carbon intensity fuels. These vehicles, with high mileage and fuel consumption, make the transportation segment Canada's biggest source of emissions and particulates.By 2050, many jurisdictions intend to lead 0% fossil-fuel societies. To make this transition, all energy sources will have to be renewable. Our goal is that by focussing on switching heavy-duty vehicles from fossil fuels to ultra‐low carbon intensity 'Renewable Diesel' manufactured from forestry wood waste, eco‐Options Energy members can have a significant impact on carbon emissions in British Columbia. What is Renewable Diesel?Renewable Diesel is a fuel that is chemically similar to petroleum diesel, but is 100% renewable because is made from environmentally benign feedstocks. Eco-options Energy Renewable Diesel is primarily made from wood waste feedstock. 'Diesel From Trees':Is sustainable:- It has a carbon intensity 97% lower than fossil fuels. This is because it is produced with low-carbon-intensity feedstocks.Benefits our Forests and our Economy:- Creates economic value for waste (wood waste), while reducing wild fire risk simultaneously-Creates jobs while many mills in BC are shutting downA ‘drop-in' fuel:-Not only is Renewable Diesel a logical solution to a companies sustainability challenges, but RD is a ‘drop-in' fuel. This means engines and infrastructure do not need to be changed, and trucks can run business as usual.By switching to RD, businesses can be part of the larger movement towards a 0% fossil fuel society.
