EcoGecko Consultants are New Zealand's lizard & frog experts, and is the only company in NZ to specialise in herpetology. At EcoGecko, we have a team of six expert herpetologists across New Zealand. Our staff are Trent Bell, Sarah Herbert, Carey Knox, Tony Jewell, Moniqua Nelson-Tunley & Ayla Wiles.If you need our help with lizards, please contact me at:trent@ecogecko.co.nz027 284 7788.We do a very wide range of herpetology-related work, including--- lizard surveys--- Assessments of Environmental Effects (AEE's/EIA's)--- obtaining RMA consents and Wildlife Act permits--- lizard management plans (LMP's)--- mitigation activities required for consent conditions--- conservation management--- applied scientific research--- population monitoring programmes--- advanced statistical analyses and reportingLizards are relevant in the RMA field because:--- 85% of our lizard fauna are considered Threatened or At Risk.-- Over 80% of our Threatened/At Risk lizard species have records on private land.-- All native lizards are absolutely protected species under the Wildlife Act 1953, which intersects with the Resource Management Act.--- Lizards are everywhere around us, but can be so cryptic that experts are needed to find them and undertake sound assessments of impacts.We are based in Tauranga, New Plymouth, Wellington, Dunedin and Invercargill. We provide herpetology-related services in Auckland, Taranaki, Hawke's Bay, Wellington, Canterbury, Otago and Southland on a very frequent basis, and visit other regions occasionally.
