The City and Port of Tuxpan's Economic Development Department is an Economic Development Organization (EDO) that follows best practices and guidelines designed by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in Washington D.C. to Attract, Retain and Expand investments as well as to develop an entrepreneurial ecosystem to promote the establishment and linkages with new businesses and entrepreneurs.Economic Development Tuxpan is in charge of gathering, classifying and analyzing economic data (NAICS, Economic base, Shift-share, LQs, demographics, quality of life, workforce, amongst others) that could be used to design strategies and better influence the allocation of resources where sustainable economic development could flourish. Develop industry and economic reports to better influence proper and informed decision making of the public and private sector. Create a market based approach for economic development. Create and incentivize development zones for public and private investment that contributes to the overall livability of the city. Develop strategic, contingency, impact and emergency plans for economic development. Identify and develop clusters. Design business development policies that improve the business ecosystem and business environment overall. Identify and address market failures. Design a workforce development approach to economic development that makes sense to the current and future economic panorama and ensures city competitiveness in a global market system. Ensure sustainability policies are implemented and establish our contributing role as a member of the global community. Promote and implement policies that increment population's well being and raise their standard of living. Create and professionalize the economic development department and staff to ensure proper management, continuity and the implementation of the economic policy as public policy in the city.
