Public Relations & Communications - Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
The Economic Media Centre is shifting the economic story in the Australian by increasing the diversity of views and voices represented in the mainstream economic media. We empower and support community spokespeople of different cultural, racial, class and gender backgrounds to share their expertise and command share-of-voice in mainstream news stories about the Australian economy. Our theory of change is simple. If we increase the diversity of voices represented on economic issues in the public discourse, our economic policies will be more inclusive. We operate under three pillars of work:Media training. We train and mentor diverse spokespeople to speak out in the media. Media strategy. We proactively and reactively pitch to the mainstream media and secure widespread coverage. Economic storytelling. We help civil society organisations tell a simple economic story that allows them to significantly change what's possible and enable major policy reform. The Economic Media Centre is a partnership between Australian Progress and the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS).
