The Economic Society of Australia's main role is to encourage public debate and research about economic questions and to promote the study and application of economics in Australia.The Tasmanian branch does this by: - Hosting the Annual Tasmanian Economic Forum. - Conducting regular meetings with presentations. - Jointly hosting the Annual Public "Giblin" Lecture with the University of Tasmania. - Sponsoring awards in the pre-tertiary and tertiary study of economics in Tasmania.Membership of the Economic Society of Australia is open to anyone with an interest in economics. Membership to the Tasmanian Branch is open to anyone with an interest in economics who resides in Tasmania.
