EcoStable Technologies, SandFirst and SedFirst, allow for the enhanced cohesion and control of materials—be it sand, sediment, or other—in order to stabilize areas for construction or general retention of materials against erosion. SedFirst prevents the erosion of sediment cap, helping to preserve activated carbon which is used to neutralize the presence of contamination. Formulations and applications of the product are selected based on various factors of each site—including tidal influences, chemicals present at site, and salinity of the water. The formula created is made of concentrated powder is diluted with water to reach the necessary strength. The application process is determined by the site characteristics and project resources. After application, results and needs are monitored to identify when additional applications are needed. While the product acts quickly, in the weeks and months after application its secondary effects begin to take hold as microscopic growth begins. This growth is important to returning the area to a natural balance. Each time we disturb nature—via renourishment or construction, we affect its ability to return to its full health. The sand and sediment are alive with a world of microscopic life, and when relocated that life is disrupted having to adapt to its new environment. During the process, the donor area is stripped of the life and in the recipient area the sand deposited is now starving for the nutrients is relied on in the donor site. SandFirst and SedFirst act as that nutrient, allowing sand and sediment to stay more closely bonded and becoming food for plant and animal life. The growth of that life increases the sand and sediments' ability to remain in place.
