Latinos account for over 50 percent of California's K-12 school population and close to half of them struggle academically. Early struggles with language & reading are tied to increased dropout rates and the resulting burden to our communities from unemployment and crime. We put leading educational research to work for our Latino communities. In our after-school program, developed in collaboration with our students' teachers, English Language Learner elementary school children practice bilingual literacy, socio-emotional skills and character habits they need to be successful in school and in life. Parents are trained as partners in their children's education and upbringing. Exposure to Latino role models and creative experiences inspire them to work for a better future. The Educa2 program is in its third year of operation at a public elementary school in San Mateo county with the goal of creating a scalable model that can be deployed anywhere the need exists. Our vision is to help develop generations of successful Latinos that are proud of their heritage and able to make increasingly important contributions to all our communities. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
