EduCrate (www.educrate.co) is new media curation tool for teachers to create, share, and explore collections ("crates") of educational videos from multiple sources including YouTube, Vimeo, the Internet Archive and more. The web is a wonderful resource for educational videos, which are becoming a critical component in the increasingly connected classrooms of today. But finding the best ones can feel like looking for a needle in a haystack, especially for hardworking, time constrained teachers who need to ensure the videos they show their students are accurate, appropriate and compelling. We built EduCrate to help teachers cut through the noise, save time and ensure the best educational videos rise to the top through the collective power of old-fashioned, hand-crafted, human curation. Our mission is to build the definitive catalog of educational videos, curated by teachers for teachers, and accessible to educators and students across the country. In May 2014, EduCrate was admitted into Matter (the nation's leading media focused accelerator, backed by KQED and the Knight Foundation) as part of its third class of startups changing media for good.
