Nonprofit Organization Management - Cairo, Cairo Governorate, Egypt
In order for Egypt to achieve rapid economic, social and political progress, it needs to significantly increase its stock of capable, productive and innovative human capital. Yet today, higher education in Egypt is producing over 500,000 graduates a year and less than 30% are employed after two years of graduation. Yet, companies are suffering from the lack of talent to hire to fill their growing businesses. The story of unemployment is repeated across the country. By no fault of their own, youth find their self in a tough position where they have trusted the system to prep them for the workforce but they graduated to find a tough reality that will only get worse. Recent advances in technology, the growing middle class in Egypt and the rapidly growing youth population mean that a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity exists to leapfrog the rest of the continent.EgyBuild intends to capture this opportunity to develop the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs by building an innovative learning hub and a school to develop 10,000 Egyptians over the next 10 years. Our aim is for 25% of our students to start their own businesses and to each employee 50 people. EgyBuild will produce thousands of highly productive Egyptians who will be equipped to drive change in their communities. In solving this challenge, we do not want to take the usual way. We believe that traditional educational methods are out of date and are unfit for this, and upcoming, generations. We also want to develop self-standing, confident entrepreneurs who can build ventures that will not only solve Egypt`s great problems but will also create the thousands of jobs needed. Our shaping notion is "confidence through mastery", as confidence is key to learning, aspiration and growth and it cannot be taught – it's only developed through experience. This means that at every single stage of the process, we will ensure learning is as experiential and real world applicable as possible. We want to tear down the barriers between schools / universities and the world, to invite the external in. We want to weave together a student experience where the academic and experiential threads are so tightly bound together they cannot be torn apart.
