The Euro-Mediterranean Irrigators Community (EIC) is a non-profit association that brings together European and Mediterranean organizations dedicated to groundwater and surface water management.The main objective of this Association is to facilitate information exchange, knowledge, plans and experiences, etc. among irrigators of all member countries, all aimed at improving management and distribution of water from the legal, administrative and technician point of view. The EIC is part as stakeholder before European Commission (Brussels) in the Strategic Coordination Group of the Water Framework Directive and of all subgroups of work, defending the interests of the irrigators of all member countries regarding water policies of the European Union, analyzing and studying the implementation of the Water Framework Directive and its impact on the European irrigation. The EIC Board of Directors has spread the positions among the organizations of members countries, so that Spain currently holds the office of the Presidency. Other positions as vice-chairs are shared among organizations from France, Morocco and Tunisia. The Treasury is provided by Portugal and the others members are from Italy, Greece and Egypt.
