El Guarapo Apartments is a family business founded by Jose Luis Sanz in 1987. He commissioned the renowned local architect Luis Díaz Feria, to design a small scale and intimate complex combining traditional island architecture and the latest modern practices. Our apartments are set around a swimming pool, and together with the tranquil gardens, it makes the ideal base from which to experience the unique volcanic island of Lanzarote. The name ‘El Guarapo' refers to a sweet non-alcoholic drink that is traditional on the island. It is made from the sap of the Canary Palm -a distinctive and refreshing drink that dates back over 500 years. It was used for its medicinal properties by the island's original inhabitants.
