Currently in the process of identifying technologies that can be utilized to detect ELF along power distribution lines in order to identify where the power line has been interrupted. There are currently methods of identifying single point of failures along a power distribution grid, but if multiple lines are downed, crews must manually traverse often difficult terrain along the lines to physically identify the issues. The purpose of ELF SEEKER is to create an unmanned aerial vehicle (quadcopter design) that can be piloted manually via RF, or programmed to follow a set GPS coordinate list, that can detect ELF radiation alongside power lines to identify multiple points of failures. The current methodology of identifying single points of failure is by conducting "disturbance analysis", where complex math and circuit knowledge has to be applied. This method is not always reliable nor the solution to multiple points of failure.ELF SEEKER aims to provide governmental and non-governmental entities the ability to identify multiple points of failure by releasing several ELF SEEKERs in times of natural disaster recoveries, EMP bursts, extreme weather, or after solar flare events. By releasing multiple ELF SEEKERs, recovery effort times can be significantly decreased and thus could be a great asset to national security.
