Individual & Family Services - Elgin, Illinois, United States
In the depth of the Great Depression, the YWCA Junior Board had its beginnings. For six years it functioned as part of the YWCA. In 1938, the Junior Board changed its name to the Elgin Junior Service Board and became independent. JSB continues to serve the community through local service projects. Funding for all of JSB's service projects has been made possible through donations from local businesses for our biennial Follies productions. Our mission statement is "enhancing and supporting the health, education and well-being of women and children" Six Different Service Projects: - Cinderella's Closet - Clothing Center - Healthwise - Educational Scholarship - Quick to Complete - Community CrossoverWe have partnerships with several local organizations including Women's Organization for Wellness or WOW, YWCA Elgin, City of Elgin, DNA (Downtown Neighborhood Association), Ecker Center, YMCA, Community Crisis Center, Larkin Center, Gail Borden Library, Sherman Health, Boys and Girls Club, and A.I.D.
