Established in 2015, The Elizabeth Youth Theater Ensemble's mission is centered upon strengthening the voices of young artists. Utilizing theater-arts based curricula, EYTE provides creative learning opportunities for the youth of city and global majorities, where they gain experiences that empower self and community.Designations: Elizabeth Youth Theater Ensemble is a qualified organization of the New Jersey Cultural Trust and an affiliate member organization of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance.EYTE has a long history of collaborating with community organizations, both locally and nationally, to create public programs that promote awareness through artistic expression across a variety of disciplines. EYTE's 2019-20, season at a glance:Partnered with the Hollywood Division of the Los Angeles Police Department and the Fountain Theatre to produce a 9-week residency program with high school students and police officers: Walking the Beat: Hollywood. This pioneering arts education program, supported by Warner Media, Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell, Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, builds trust towards common humanity, and a commitment to community and social justice.The program garnered national recognition with features in American Theatre Magazine and Spectrum News.In Union County, New Jersey, our Walking the Beat: Elizabeth residency continued with it's 6-year relationship with the Elizabeth Police Department, Union County Prosecutor's Office, the City of Elizabeth, and the Elizabeth Public Schools. The Program was featured on Oxygen Network's 2020 Unsung Heroes. And our recent virtual summer residency, An Emergency Convening, was received with much success from the community and supporters at-large.2020 Census Campaign -EYTE partnered with the City of Elizabeth and New Jersey Counts, to create a series of digital campaigns to promote awareness and encourage an increased participation in the Census.
