In 1612, Dutch envoy Cornelis Haga presented his letters of credence on behalf of the Republic of the United Provinces to the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, marking the start of more than 400 years of bilateral relations between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Turkish Republic. The Dutch Embassy in Ankara represents, promotes and protects the interests of the government of the Netherlands, as well as those of Dutch nationals in Turkey.
