Embrace is a non-profit organization (NGO) that works to raise awareness around mental health in Lebanon. Embrace launched as an affiliation with the Department of Psychiatry at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) back in 2013. As of 2017, Embrace branched out as an independent Lebanese non-governmental organization (NGO), not affiliated with any institution. Embrace seeks to better inform the community about mental illness, break the stigma, provide support to those affected, and help foster a resilient and emotionally healthy community that cares for the mental wellbeing of its young and old.Embrace also operates The Embrace LifeLine 1564 -The National Emotional Support and Suicide Prevention Helpline in Lebanon in collaboration with the National Mental Health Program at the Ministry of Public Health.This specialized telephone service includes a network of highly trained operators who provide over-the-phone emotional support, suicide risk assessment, and referrals to community mental health services.In August 2020, Embrace Established the Embrace Mental Health Center (EMHC) which consists of an experienced team of mental health professionals who offer quality mental health services to children and adults, without any barriers.
