We are making a waistline mounted wearable device that saves lives by predicting and preventing fall-related incidents for the aging, frail, injured, and disabled. Our device, Libra, is capable of longitudinally tracking gait metrics such as stride length, stride velocity, and dynamic or static balance. Sudden or steady changes in these metrics are strong indicators of fall risk so we are developing a Prediction Driven Intervention System that forwards notifications regarding gait metrics to the appropriate healthcare providers or family members for preventative intervention such as walking assistance or a physical therapy regimen.On the hardware side we're making a small unobtrusive cloud-powered motion sensor which clips onto the center of mass of these fall-prone individuals (near where a belt-buckle would be).On the software side we’re making a motion analytic cloud platform that uses machine learning to extract clinically relevant features about gait and mobility.
