Mental Health Care - , , United Kingdom
OUR MISSIONTo alleviate suffering and promote personal growth in those who have experienced trauma and other adverse life events by providing skilful, compassionate and effective EMDR therapy. We do this by advancing the theory and practice of EMDR, and through our commitment to ensuring the highest standards of treatment, research, continuing professional development and ethical practice.ABOUT EMDR THERAPYEMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy is a scientifically proven psychotherapy which works with memory to heal the legacy of past pain. It is best known for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) but as trauma is not reserved only for those with PTSD, EMDR therapy can help with other mental health challenges including depression and anxiety. Internationally recognised, EMDR therapy is endorsed by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence; the World Health Organisation; The International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies; the NHS (in the UK); and many other bodies. There are more than 10,000 trained EMDR therapists in the UK alone, and it has helped millions of people worldwide. SUPPORT FOR EMDR THERAPISTS ACROSS THE UKWe are constantly striving to support EMDR therapists by improving the practice and understanding of EMDR therapy. Membership of the EMDR Association UK provides opportunities for accreditation, peer supervision, training, CPD events, regional and special interest groups and information on the latest research.
