We, the Council of Korean Americans (CKA), believe in the importance of Korean Americans being actively involved in public and community service. CKA recognizes that internships provide the best opportunities to encourage college and graduate students to engage in public service. Unfortunately, many students cannot afford to participate in summer internships due to the high financial commitment to work in an unpaid position or the high cost of relocating for the summer to Washington DC or New York City.CKA is excited and proud to announce the Emerging Leaders Scholarship (formerly known as CKA-KALCA Public Service Internship Program.) The award provides up to $3,500 for college students, recent grads, or graduate students who are interested in the Korean American community and serving in a public service internship program in the Washington, DC, or New York City area.In addition to the scholarship, all awardees will be invited to participate in professional development seminars throughout the summer; work with senior Asian American mentors; and opportunities to reflect on their internships with other awardees.
