Located on the silk road, between Samarkand and Bukhara in Uzbekistan, ECCH is a conservation Centre engaged in preservation of an endangered iconic specie: the Asian Houbara bustard (Chlamydotis macqueenii). To respond to this mission, ECCH combines a captive breeding management, with an annual release campaign achievement at the heart of the natural bustards reproduction area. Meanwhile, follow-up actions and habitat researches are conducted to improve this reinforcement program.In 2007, ECCH's story begins with a first collection of wild eggs realised around Navoiy region. Rapidly, the first chick produced on Centre is born in 2008. Four years later, in 2012, a release campaign is achieved in Uzbekistan, since that year more than 8,500 bustards have been produced at ECCH. All of those birds reinforce Houbara bustards wild populations, and simultaneously their sustainability.Every year, more than 100 employees and until 200 during breeding season are involved in Houbara bustards preservation at ECCH.
