The Center was created with a view to provide thought leadership for the major issues facing alternative investments industry, including venture capital, private equity, commodities, real estate and hedge funds. To fulfill its mission, the Center has established a research agenda, cultivate thought leadership and develop data to assist investors as they navigate investment decisions and structure the marketplace. This agenda is being shaped by the Center's leadership team, and will include the viewpoints from leaders in the alternative investments industry, distinguished scholars, and others, including regulators and bankers. Indeed, the Center believes an open forum for discussions among the leaders and experts in these fields will be critical in understanding the alternative investments industry and setting the research agenda. To facilitate the Center's mission it is imperative that the industry is integrally engaged with the Center's activities and thought leadership. Consequently, the Center envisions itself as an independent meeting place for people interested and active in alternative investments. The Center aspires to acquire a unique strategic position by focusing on the industry. Engaging the industry as the primary audience allows the Center to develop a natural value proposition. by leading the way to become a strategic center of thought leadership and to engage in an interactive and deep thinking dialog with the alternative investments industry, academia and students. The Center believes that such a position can be achieved by remaining very relevant to the alternative investments industry network, broadening the scope of research questions and by using the latest and specific data to not only find the answers to the questions faced by the industry, but also to ask the right questions that will eventually effect the evolution of the alternative investments space.
