EmpowerMe Fitness and Education Details
EmpowerMe is a non-profit dance and education program for adults with developmental disabilities (DD). Our Vision: To transform our community through disability awareness and increase the quality of life of adults with DD. Our Mission: To create and deliver dance, fitness and educational services to adults with DD in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), at no cost, enabling an increased sense of well-being, freedom and self-confidence. Our Values: -Empowerment -Leadership -Knowledge -Freedom -Quality of Life We believe that EmpowerMe will bring much joy, excitement and empowerment to all participants, many of whom enjoy music, dance and exercise but have experienced financial and social isolation due to their unique situation. Many adults with DD are unable to find appropriate and affordable fitness programs, especially since funding drops off at age 18 and most programs are "fee for service." By creating services of this nature, at no cost, we will allow adults of all abilities to access fitness classes, learn about healthy lifestyles and experience increased well-being as a result.
