The Endurance Mindset. Mindfulness for endurance athletes is learning how to push through moments of extreme discomfort. Running, rowing, swimming, cycling, skiing, or anything else that has an endurance element, all require comfort with discomfort. Mindfulness trains athletes to view suffering and discomfort in a non-attached way. When athletes view these experiences in a non-attached way, they do not internalize them as truth, and in turn can go longer and harder. Mindfulness trains endurance athletes to push beyond what their mind is telling them is possible.
