O setor da Energia tem sido um dos pontos de deliberação conjunta da CPLP. Na VII Conferência de Chefes de Estado e de Governo da CPLP, realizada em Lisboa, em 2008, foi realçada a importância do setor da Energia, onde se incluem as renováveis para a sustentabilidade do Desenvolvimento, reforçando a resolução do XII Conselho de Ministros da CPLP, de 2007.A atividade do setor da Energia é uma dimensão da identidade dos Países da CPLP, sejam estes possuidores de grandes recursos fósseis e/ou renováveis, em potência e/ou em exploração. Em 2009, entre 2,4% e 2,8% da produção mundial de energia primária (fóssil e renovável) veio da CPLP. Um fator atual desta dimensão é o dinamismo económico e social gerado pelo salto tecnológico para "novos" combustíveis, por novas e grandes descobertas de energias fósseis e pela existência de um grupo assinalável de empresas que já atua dentro de uma ‘lusofonia da energia', com atividades em mais do que um País.The energy sector has been an issue of joint deliberation within the CPLP. The VII Conference of the Heads of State and Government of the CPLP, held in Lisbon, in 2008, highlighted the importance of the energy sector, stressing renewable energies in the making of a sustainable development, subject also reinforced in the resolution of the XXII Council of Ministers of the CPLP, in 2007.The activity in the energy sector attains to a dimension of the identity of the CPLP countries, where all nine states are owners of large amounts of fossil and/or renewable resources, prospective or in exploration. In 2009, between 2,4% and 2,8% of the world's primary energy production (fossile and renewable) came from the CPLP. Nowadays we're witnessing a new economic and social trend generated by the technological leap towards "new" fuels. This is due to the recent major discoveries of fossil fuels and the existence of a remarkable group of companies, which already operates within a "lusophone energy", active in more than one country.
