Hospital & Health Care - Lyngby, Capital Region of Denmark, Denmark
Engineering World Health, DTU is a chapter of the American-founded EWH. It is a student driven organization with more than 70 members. The vision is to improve healthcare technology in developing countries by utilizing the engineering skills of the members. The organization focus on sustainability: Instead of donating medical equipment, we focus on repairing life-saving equipment and educate the hospital personnel in maintaining the equipment in developing countries. In 2016, EWH DTU established a new Summer Institute in Nepal in collaboration with EWH. The volunteers were trained at a 3 weeks course at DTU. During the summer institute, 280 pieces of equipment worth around 3.8 million DKK had been fixed.Simultaneously, we have held workshops in Denmark with the purpose of increasing the engineering skills of the students, and of helping companies donating in a responsible way.Our ambition for 2017 is to continuously ensure the students are well prepared, before the summer institute. We will further strive to provide EWH related bachelor/master projects in the autumn in cooperation with selected professors and hopefully some interested companies. You can read more about the organisation at http://www.ewh.dtu.dk/
