Ensamble Nacional del Sur - ENS for short - a modern music ensemble based in Buenos Aires & led by composer Oscar Edelstein. They've gained a cult reputation in Argentina & Brazil, performing extensively in a variety of important venues; La Trastienda, Goethe-Institut, Centro Cultural Rojas, Teatro Payró, San Martin (Buenos Aires); Auditorio Nicolás Cassullo (Quilmes); Teatro Argentina (La Plata); Centro Parque España (Rosario); Auditorio Bustelo (Mendoza); Teatro 3 de Febrero (Paraná); Auditorio del CePIA (Córdoba) & Teatro Nacional - Sala Martins Penna (Brasilia). Frequently referred to as "revolutionary" & "cutting-edge", their "visceral" cross cutting music & polished playing leads them to be described as "rockers" or "á la free jazz". They've been regularly compared to a wide variety of music including Zappa, King Crimson, Cage & Varèse. What stands out is their originality & refusal to be pigeon holed, moreover, in contrast to minimalism, Edelstein calls himself a maximilist, interested in "oversaturation.". The ENS use polyrhythms & quadraphony.Piano & Conducting: Oscar Edelstein / Electric Guitar: Leonardo Salzano / Drums: Pablo Torterolo / Piano & Keyboards: Axel Lastra / Keyboards & Processing: Mauro Zannoli / Invited: Deborah Claire Procter: Voice / Martín Proscia: Saxophone / Sound Engineer: Daniel Hernandez / Graphic Design: Gisela Formoso
