The Environmental Studies Association of Canada (ESAC) is Canada's leading scholarly network of environmental researchers and educators. We are a non-profit, federally incorporated, bilingual organization open to members from across Canada and elsewhere. Members are welcome from educational institutions, government agencies, and private sector and non-profit organizations.ESAC is scholarly associations with membership in the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences (CFHSS). Our Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting are held each year in conjunction with the CFHSS Congress, the largest annual academic conference in Canada. A\J (Alternatives Journal) is Canada's only national environmental media organization and our community's only nonprofit publisher, providing intelligent & informed environmental journalism since 1971. A\J is also a not-for-profit organization and a registered Canadian charity engaged in environmental education and community-building activities. Since 1995, A/J has been the official publication of the Environmental Studies Association of Canada (ESAC).
