ERA stands for Equipe de Robotique Autonome, a team for autonomous robotics. But for us, ERA means more than just the name. For us, it means a new era in the field of robotics, real-time artificial intelligence systems and intelligent ground vehicles. This team believes in 6 Es ー enthusiasm, excellence, eclectic, exceptional, endeavour and evolution. We are a team consisting of 13 members, spanning across 4 majors in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. Our members are highly skilled in their respective fields of work. We are associated with the best faculty on campus. We have well established labs at our disposal for organised development, and timely testing of our autonomous robots. We have a well defined structure and work ethics which separate us from other conventional teams.Our aim is to participate in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) DJI RoboMaster AI Challenge 2019. Ours is the first team from India to participate in this prestigious competition which witnesses participation from over 200 teams worldwide. The team endeavours to devise new technologies in the fields of simultaneous localisation and mapping, visual object detection, stereo vision, sensor fusion, machine learning algorithms and efficient methods of motion control and mission control in robotics and to present papers on these technologies in symposiums organized by prestigious institutes like IEEE. Apart from IEEE ICRA DJI RoboMaster AI Challenge, the team also aims to participate in other challenging AI-based competitions.
