The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is the largest student organisation in Europe with almost 14,000 active student volunteers looking after students before, during and after exchanges such as the Erasmus+ programme. ESN was established in 1989 by returning students from the very first Erasmus exchanges. Today ESN looks after all students and we are the representation in Ireland. We encourage Irish students to avail of the opportunity to study, train and volunteer in new cultures, enhance the experience of visiting students in Ireland through our projects and events and also help returning exchange students to adjust and use their new knowledge and skill sets. Some of our national and international projects are: *AskErasmus - preparing students for the new Erasmus+ programme *SocialErasmus - integrating visiting students into their host communities though volunteering events (charitable, educational and environmental) *Erasmus Encore - Returning students continuing the journey. *ExchangeAbility & MapAbility - encouraging students with disabilities or special needs to also participate in exchange. We highlight and try to eliminate the barriers students face which prevents them from going on Erasmus+ ESN Ireland is a non profit student organisation and is governed by internal statutes and also ESN International guidelines.
